My thoughts

So here I am falling in love with a new author. I am so happy I finally picked up one of Dani Atkins books. It was the first book I read by Dani Atkins and certainly won’t be the last! Our Song is gut wrenchingly beautiful. A story that will haunt you for days afterwards. I'm looking forward to reading more of this author's work.

I don't want to give away any spoilers I'd want readers to discover it for themselves, not listen to me gushing about how amazing this story is but I will say that I needed a whole heap of tissues as I was reading for the heart wrenching pain that the author subjects us to. This book had me hooked from the very first to the very last page. I started to read the book and found myself utterly hooked into the lives of Ally, Charlotte, Joe and David. The characters are all intensely human and real. That may sound like a strange thing to say, but so often they can lack real feeling in books. Throughout the reading process I felt angry, hopeful and sad but most of all the book taught me things I never knew. Simply phenomenal.

When I finished Our Song I was more than heartbroken. I did not have the energy or the words to try and explain to you how I was feeling. I can hand on heart say that there will never be a book that will move me as much as this. This is a very bitter sweet book about a hard-hitting topic yet it still manages to make you smile, and certainly think about issues many of us will (luckily) not have to deal with in our lifetimes.
