Sometimes, the hardest part of finding love is keeping a straight face...
For Jamie Newman, being a single guy isn't proving to be much fun, especially when confronted with a sexually belligerent divorcee and a goddess so far out of his league she might as well be a different species.
Mind you, being a girl in search of love isn't a bowl of cherries either. Just ask Laura McIntyre, who's recently contended with a horny estate agent on a quest for light relief and a rabid mountain bike enthusiast with a penchant for lycra that leaves little to the imagination.
When Jamie and Laura bump into one another (quite literally) it looks like their luck may have changed - but sometimes finding the right person is only the start of your problems...
Love ... From Both Sides centres around Jamiem Newman and Laura McIntyre on their way to find love, which is not so easy as it sounds. Jaime tells his story through his blog and Laura through entries in her diary to her deceased mother. We follow both of the characters through their disastrous dates and just when you think it cannot get any worse it does! When Laura and Jamie finally meet by accident, they're literally crashing into one another, leaving Laura with a sore knee and Jamie with a poor back. As the story progresses, they meet again and again. Despite their Ups and Downs they realize they are meant for another but the path of true love truly doesn't run smooth...
A few weeks ago I was going through my piles of books. I was looking for something funny to cheer me up because I the book I finished the night before totally frustrated me. The back of the book promised me that this is a ‘laugh out loud’ book. I could have not choosen a better book. It did not dissapoint me at all. Nick Spalding is a bloddy brilliant author. This has to be the funniest book I have read in a long time and one of very few books that actually had me laughing out loud rather than just feeling amused. If you have an open mind, a wicked sense of humour and don’t mind a bit of filth and bad language this book will have you in stitches!
The dates are discribed in such a hilarous way. I was rolling on the floor with laugther after the first few minutes. The story is packed with dating disasters, sexual debacle and general cock up’s from start to finish. I loved the humor and the unusual obstacles these two had to overcome. What I also really loved about this novel is that Jamie and Laura felt so real and natural to me. They are ordinary people, they have problems like you and me which makes it so easy to relate to them. I am so happy there are two more books in the Love Series which are follwing Jamie and Laura as well. I very much look forward to reading more from Nick Spalding in the near future and I recommend that you give him a try in order to brighten up your day too.
Love ... From Both Sides is a brilliant light-hearted read! Fun and the humour makes you laugh out loud….not so good if you are reading on a packed train! Highly recommended.
