New Year, New Love… or Old Love, New Start?

Everyone keeps telling Frankie Taylor that a new year is a time for new beginnings. She's not so sure. Single for six months, she's been more than happy on her own, thanks very much! At least, that's what she thinks until she receives a note on New Year’s Eve inviting her to follow the clues, and her heart, across Knightsbridge.

But who's behind the romantic adventure? Old flame Christian who she loved for years and was always there for her, or new admirer and work colleague Zack, who has the habit of turning up in all sorts of unexpected places?

There's only one way she's going to find out…

My thoughts

Meet Frankie Taylor, the second heroine of the second short story in the fun & flirty #LoveLondon series from exciting new chick lit author Nikki Moore! Frankie broke up with her ex-boyfriend, Christian, six months ago. She wasn't happy with him or with the life they lived anymore. He kept her safe and gave her a life of luxury but it did not save her of being lonely and living a life that was like Barbie and Ken set up. Frankie wants to leave everything behind her and make a fresh start. First step is a new haircut. The problem is she didn't give any specific instructions to her hairdresser. She wants something different, so he cuts all her locks off, which she is not very happy about.

On New Years Eve, after Frankie returns home from spending Christmas with her dad, she finds a mysterious letter in her post. Apprehension and excitement mixing in her belly, Frankie ripps open the envelope and finds herself soon enough going on a romantic scavenger hunt. The question now is who's behind the romantic adventure? She is beyond clueless. Can it be Christian, who wants her back or maybe a new admire?

I was super excited to start reading New Year at the Ritz after I instantly fell in love with the first installement, Skating at Somerset House (review here), in the #LoveLondon Series. This time it did not click with the heroine immediately, nonetheless Frankie is very likeable person. The more I read the more she grew on me. I completely enjoyed the idea of this plot. Frankie is following all kind of clues around London for her New Year surprise. I was rooting for Frankie to get this mystery of the scavenger hunt solved.

The #LoveLondon series is a must read for any chick lit fan! I highly recommend it because the writing is enjoyable, contains unique plotlines, heart-warming characters and always puts a smile on your face. I can't wait for the third installment in the series, Valentine's on Primrose Hill, to see what Nikki has in store for us next. The novella will be published on 9th February 2015.
