Hi Isabell, thank you so much for inviting me onto your beautiful bog! Oo ok, I’m Laura, a little bit of a book addict (a lot of a book addict), huge lover of fiction and I probably spend a little bit too much of my life with my head in a book! I’m also an aspiring author and trying to finish my first novel!
Where do we find your blog and how long have you been blogging / reviewing?
You can find my blog at shelovestoread.wordpress.com! I’ve been blogging and reviewing for about four years now but only started to take it seriously about a year and a half ago.
What is the name of the book you most recently blogged about?
The book I have just blogged about is called One Hundred Proposals by Holly Martin – it’s an incredible story and is the PERFECT summer book. Make sure you all go and buy a copy! It’s a beautiful love story centred on two characters that refuse to divulge exactly how they feel about each other which then leads to a whole heap of trouble and tension with plenty of laughs along the way!
Have you ever seen a movie you liked better than the book?
Oooh, good question! I am very ‘anti’ film adaptations. I often find that they do the book no justice and it frustrates me that the story doesn’t stay true to the characters and their world. However, recently, I saw The Fault In Our Stars which was SUCH a beautiful adaptation and whilst it’s not ‘better’ than the book, it is as GOOD as the book. And that is something so rare and special. Anyone who knows me will know how much the book meant to me and to see it so beautifully told on screen was just a dream come true!
Acknowledgements: waste of ink and paper or interesting aside?
Definitely not a waste! I love reading the acknowledgements – it’s always so interesting to see who has helped make the book into a reality and who inspired the author and it always makes me a little choked up when you read beautiful thank you’s to writers children, parents or partners. One of my fabourite parts of picking up a new book actually!
Do you have a book that reminds you of something specific in your life (a person, a place, a time)
Quite a few actually! Aside from The Fault In Our Stars which is probably the book that has most emotional resonance with me, it would have to be The Perks Of Being A Wallflower which I read when I was about seventeen and it affected me so deeply – I can still remember staying up into the early hours to finish the book and when I had, I couldn’t sleep for hours, I just couldn’t stop thinking about the book. So, whenever I see it now, I think back to that night when my whole outlook on life changed from reading that one book.
What are three things you are hoping to accomplish in the next six months
The top one is finish writing my novel! I am determined to get that finished very soon. The second is to keep saying ‘yes’ to things so that I can start doing more things that scare me and excite me and the last one is to finish a novella I’m also working on!
Name your Top 5 most charming male fictional characters
Oh my god! This is the hardest question so far!
Ok, so let’s go with Ben from Pictures Of Lily by Paige Toon – he’s extremely charming and I would happily marry him tomorrow! Gavin Blake from Collide by Gail McHugh – whilst he’s not perhaps ‘charming’ he’s incredibly sexy and would be the perfect man! Is it weird to say Oliver Wood from Harry Potter?! I’m only on the 4th Harry Potter book so far but I’m a little bit in love with Oliver. Then I must confess my undying love for Augustus Waters from The Fault In Our Stars and then finally, last but not least, the utterly divine Noah from The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks!
You dream of being a writer one day. At the moment you are working on Isabelle Winter’s Wedding dream. Describe your writing process
I do indeed! I am, it’s my first ‘real’ novel and it has been such an incredible learning curve. My writing process is quite spontaneous and random – probably not the best way to go about it!
I started off with a brief idea about what I wanted to happen in the novel and then just started writing. I planned very little of it and it kind of developed organically and turned quite quickly into a story. The characters kept surprising me by taking different routes than I thought they would – it’s strange saying that because if you’re not a writer, you find it hard to comprehend that the characters control the author rather than the other way round! I’m still in the writing process at the moment but I’m sort of jumping between different parts of it and writing it out of sequence as new ideas hit me and ask me to write them.
I am nearly ready to go back through the manuscript and start a really deep and thorough edit which will involve improving sub plots and making sure everything flows nicely. I quite like the whole process of writing it all in one go and keeping it as organic as possible and then having the chance to go back over it all again once you’ve finished. I wouldn’t be able to edit as I went along!

My top blogging tip – don’t bite off more than you can chew! Often lots of opportunities come along all at the same time (blog tours, review requests etc) and everything seems so inviting but sometimes you need to work out which opportunities are more exciting/important, otherwise you end up really stressed trying to do everything all at once!
