My thoughts

The Start of Us is a short prequel to the full length novel The Thrill of It. I downloaded The Start of Us while it was free on Amazon. I picked it up because I wanted to try something new. New author, new writing style, new genre. I did not know what to expect of it. Surprisingly, this novella ended up being a really good one. Let me tell you why ...

With The Start of Us Blakely tell us the story of how Harley and Trey initially met. They meet the night when Harley gets her first tattoo at the No Regrets shop where Trey works as an tattoo artist. She just wanted to get done a red ribbon on her shoulder but what she got was so much more. Trey and Harley have this instant and very strong connection. You literally can hear sparks flying between them. What Harley didn't expect is to find the one person who makes her feel. To make her want things she has never wanted.Neither did Trey expect his next client will have such an impact on him. He wants to know more about her. He wants to touch her, feel her, and taste her. Just for one night. For one night they let down their guards and just feel with each other both unaware that their paths are destined to cross yet again.

I thought that The Start of Us was a great introduction to the No Regrets series. Lauren Blakely completely compelled me to move on to the next book. The Thrill of It is already waiting on my kindle, I can't wait to pick it up. There is still so much to find out about those characters. One of the things I really like to know is what is the reason behind Harley's tattoo? Trey and Harley have secrets that haven’t been revealed yet and I know I want to learn more about them. The attraction between the characters is incredible. Ususally I don't like it when a story and the feelings of the main characters develops super fast but this time it fitted perfectly to the story. I am now curious to see where the author takes the reader next and what kind of challeges Harley and Trey face.

The only thing which sounded a bit weird to me is Harley claims to be a sex addict. How can this be if she is still a virgin? Hopefully The Thrill of It will give me some more conclusion.
