Have you ever wondered what happens in Ireland? When Australian, Kate Barrow, meets a handsome Irishman in a Dublin bar, she has no idea that he is about to turn her world upside-down and inside-out.

In Ireland to take on a position on a thoroughbred stud, Kate is shocked when her manager-in-co reveals himself to be the same man she’d met in Dublin.

Jack is drawn to Kate. The problem is, she won't have him. But Jack has always loved a challenge and the intriguing woman from Oz is one he cannot resist.

Harbouring the sting of another man’s betrayal, Kate is certain she wants nothing to do with love and nothing to do with Jack O’Reilly. But when naked torsos, Mother Nature and dysfunctional umbrellas start plotting against her resolve, she realizes the charms of an Irishman are going to be hard to resist.

My thoughts

I was looking for Romance books set in Ireland. Then I discovered Whitney K.E. novels. I read the blurb and immediately hit the buy button on Amazon. I knew from the very first moment on that I am going to like this book and I did! I have a very special connection to Ireland. In 2010 I travelled from Germany to Ireland to work as an Au-Pair. When the year was over I didn't want to leave. I fell in love with this beautiful country. It feels like this is the place where I belong. Unfortunately I never made it back besides a one week holiday in 2012. I miss this place so much. One day I am going back for good.

What Happens In Ireland is the debut novel, and the first in a series, for Australian Author Whitney K.E. The story starts off with Kate Barrows first night in Dublin, Ireland. After dreaming about this trip for so long, she has finally arrived, ready to live and work in Ireland on a stud farm in Killarney (County Kerry). On her first night, she meets Jack, charming, sexy as sin and confident, as much as she is drawn to him, he reminds her too much of her past and the betrayal she still feels. With little more than a kiss from the sexy Irish stranger she is on her way to her new life and home. The last thing she expects is for the Irish stranger to be none other than her boss who she meets on her first day at work.

One word to describe this book: WOW. Whitney, you've got a new fan! I absolutely loved this novel from the first page on. I couldn't put this book down. I found myself turning page after page. I didn't want it to end. Unfortunately I finished it after two days already. Jack and Kate's story was a refreshing romance. This book involves a perfect mixture of romance, drama, steamy scenes and a beautiful setting. Whitney decribes Ireland beautifully. During my staying in Ireland I have been to Kerry once. It's one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. I know the places Whitney is writing about and that made the story so real for me.

Kate and Jack are two amazing characters: attractive and enjoyable. Kate is sassy, spunky and strong willed. She does her best to keep a distance between herself and Jack but the attraction is just to strong. They are trying to keep their hands to themselves but after a while it's not working anymore. I was blown away by the sexual tension between Kate and Jack. I adored Jack. He is very confident and he knows what he wants. You can say I fell a little for him. Sometimes it felt like that he is too good for Kate. He was fighting for her til the end.

Whitney's writing style is also witty and gripping. Jack and the irish secondary characters are written with irish acctent. Some people might have to get used to it but I loved it. I heard Jack talking with that sexy irish accent in my head.

I really want to rate this book 5 stars but I can't. There was one thing which really bothered me. Kates stubborness. I wanted to slap and shake her for her stubborness and serious issues involving trust and betrayal. It really annoyed me sometimes. Let go of the past, girl!

Whitney, thank you for this wonderful book! I am dying to read the next installment in the series. It's called Deceive Me in Ireland. The story is about Kate's friend Cara and Jack's brother William.
